Welcome to Back Forty Laser Works. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of this website (the "Site") and your interactions with Back Forty Laser Works ("we," "us," or "our"), a custom laser engraving and manufacturing business based in Ontario, Oregon. By using the Site, submitting a form, or placing a custom order request, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

About This Site

This Site exists to showcase our custom engraving and manufacturing work, share information about our products, and make it easy for you to reach us. The Site itself does not process payments and does not include accounts, logins, or a shopping cart. Purchases of our standard products are completed through our Etsy shop, which has its own terms and policies. Custom projects begin with a request submitted through our Custom Order form and are finalized by direct communication with us.

Custom Orders and Quotes

When you submit a request through our Custom Order form, you are asking us to review your project and provide information, availability, or a quote. Submitting a request does not create a binding order and does not obligate either of us to proceed. A custom order becomes final only once we have confirmed the details with you in writing (for example, by email) and payment arrangements have been agreed upon.

Because every piece is made to order, please review all project details — spelling, names, dates, dimensions, colors, and layout — carefully before approving. Once production begins based on the details you have approved, we produce the item as approved. We are always glad to talk through options before work starts.

Content and Artwork You Provide

Our custom work often relies on artwork, logos, text, photos, or other materials you provide to us — including files uploaded through our Custom Order form. By submitting materials to us, you represent and warrant that:

• You own the materials or have all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to use them and to have them reproduced on a custom product;
• The materials do not infringe the copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights of any third party; and
• The materials are not unlawful, defamatory, or otherwise inappropriate.

You grant us permission to use, reproduce, and modify the materials you provide solely as needed to prepare, produce, and deliver your order. We may decline any project or request at our discretion, including requests that involve content we believe infringes another party's rights or that we are otherwise not comfortable producing. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim arising out of materials you provide to us.

Our Intellectual Property

The content on this Site — including text, graphics, logos, photographs, product designs, and the "Back Forty Laser Works" name and branding — is owned by us or used with permission and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without our prior written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use of the Site as intended.

Product Descriptions and Handmade Variation

We work hard to describe and photograph our products accurately. Because our items are made from natural materials such as wood and are individually crafted, slight variations in grain, color, texture, and finish are normal and are part of the character of handmade work. Screen and monitor settings may also cause colors to appear differently than the finished product. These natural variations are not defects.

Pricing and Payment

Prices for standard products are shown on our Etsy shop and are subject to change. Pricing for custom projects is provided through a quote and confirmed before work begins. All payments are handled through Etsy or through the arrangement we confirm with you directly; we do not collect or store payment information on this Site.

Returns and Refunds

Because our products are made to order, our return and refund practices are described in our Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review it for details on how we handle concerns about an order.

Acceptable Use of the Site

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes. You agree not to misuse the Site, including by attempting to gain unauthorized access to it, interfering with its normal operation, uploading malicious code, submitting false or misleading information, or using the Site or its content in any way that violates applicable law or the rights of others.

Third-Party Links and Platforms

Our Site links to third-party platforms we use to sell products and connect with customers, including our Etsy shop, Instagram, and Facebook pages. We do not control these platforms and are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we strive to keep the Site accurate and available, we make no warranties, express or implied, that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that the information on it is complete or current.
